Preservation Framing

If you're going to take the time and money to get something framed professionally, you want it to last. That's why we offer preservation framing services.

Preservation framing won't harm your item/piece and is completely reversible. It simply protects it from the normal anticipated hazards such as UV light and pollutants.

To achieve this affect we use special mounting board and matting matting. With preservation framing the glazing is designed to filter 98% of UV light while allowing light to still pass through so that we can see it.

Light in particular UV will promote the chemical changes of fading which are irreversible. There are 4 levels of glass that we use, and what you choose depends on your goals and your budget:

Premimum clear glass - an affordable option that protects from dust and dirt, but not UV and florescent light.

Non-glare glass - etched on one side, it reduces the glare but it can create a dull image. Good for areas with a lot of lighting that could obstruct your view of the image.

Conservation glass - this is one of the keys in preservation framing. It filters the UV light that damages your art.

Museum glass - for preservation framing, this is a step up. It blocks almost all UV light and has an anti-reflective coating to reduce the glare. It's so well made, it looks almost invisible.
